Our practice specialises in medical and surgical retina and oncology. Four Ophthalmologists are supported by more than twenty five staff to provide unparalleled professional eye healthcare using the latest procedures and equipment.
Our practice is rapidly expanding and is seeking to appoint a hard working Administrative Assistant/Receptionist to our team. It is envisaged the role will be approximately 35 hours per week with shifts at both North Terrace and Marion Road required. Flexibility to work full time to cover leave is also a requirement.
Role
This dual role forms a vital part of the patient care process by providing a warm, friendly and professional experience for our patients.

The successful applicant must have the ability to multi-task and have exceptional computer skills. In addition to being our first impression, you will also perform a broad range of administrative duties with a focus on debtor control. Previous finance and medical/ophthalmic experience highly regarded.
Duties - Debtors
Responding promptly to patient account queries
Receipting health fund remittances
Debtor follow up patients and health funds as required
Liaising with Medicare and health fund staff on billing queries, including follow up with health funds for short payments, and process top ups
Processing refunds as required
Work collaboratively to ensure debtor days are minimised
Processing medical and in-hospital Eclipse claims
Duties - Reception
Welcoming patients to the practice
Adding patient information to the computer system
Invoicing and receipting complex invoicing both through Medicare and health insurance companies
Booking appointments both within our practice and for other specialists and tests
Answering incoming calls on a very busy switchboard
General office duties
Assisting with general office duties as required all whilst ensuring a high standard of internal and external customer service in all areas
Skills and experience
Minimum two years experience in specialist practice and/or day surgery
Proven experience with Medicare item numbers and Private Health Insurance funds
Proven experience in Patient Management software e.g. Direct Control, Genie
Proven experience in Microsoft Office suite
Experience with medical terminology advantageous
Minimum typing speed of 50-60 wpm
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Can do attitude with a friendly, caring and professional disposition
