We are an exceptionally busy Ophthalmology practice seeking a confident individual to join our friendly team on a permenant/part time basis (approx. 25-30 hours a week), with the flexibility to relieve annual and sick leave.

Our practice specialises in medical and surgical retina and oncology. Four Ophthalmologists are supported by more than twenty five staff to provide unparalleled professional eye healthcare using the latest procedures and equipment.

The practice is rapidly expanding and is seeking to appoint a Medical Receptionist to our team based both in the CBD and our clinic on Marion Road.

Role
The role of Medical Receptionist forms a vital part of the patient care process by providing a warm, friendly and professional experience for our patients.

Whilst not for the faint hearted due to the intensity of the position, AERC provides a rewarding environment of challenge, family and longevity for the person with the right attitude and experience.  If you enjoy working at top speed, have a compassionate nature and like your days to go fast, this could be the position for you.  The successful applicant must have the ability to multi-task and have exceptional computer skills. Previous medical/ophthalmic experience highly regarded. 

Specific tasks include:
Welcoming patients to the practice
Adding patient information to the computer system
Invoicing and receipting complex invoicing both through Medicare and health insurance companies
Booking appointments both within our practice and for other specialists and tests
Answering incoming calls on a very busy switchboard
General office duties

Candidate
Preference will be given to candidates with Medical/Ophthalmology experience who have previously worked in a high pressure environment. However, applications will be welcome from people who have some medical experience (particularly with billings), as we provide an intensive training period.

Preferably, you will be expected to have experience in a medical/nursing environment underpinned by a good knowledge of medical and/or ophthalmic terminology.

Other skills and personal attributes essential for success in the role include:

Well-developed interpersonal skills, enabling quick rapport with patients and fellow staff members

A calm, friendly and professional demeanour, reflecting the Practice's image

High level of computer literacy
