​​​​​​The role:

Partners in Communication is looking for a part-time speech-language pathologist to join our team in Caulfield North. This position offers excellent opportunity to work with experienced professionals to offer a wide range of services. This position is for a Grade 2 clinician who, along with other areas of expertise, is skilled in the management of social communication difficulties, particularly in a group contexts. A background in Social Thinking® methodologies is essential along with an interest in mental health related challenges.

 

Duties include:

  1. Work with clients and their families to assist in identifying and prioritising areas of need.
  2. Carry out individual assessments of clients across a range of settings (e.g. clinic, school, community settings, home) using evidence based practice frameworks, standardised and non-standardised assessments in areas including but not limited to:
  • Articulation and oral motor skills
  • Phonemic awareness and literacy skills
  • Expressive and receptive communication skills
  • Social interaction and pragmatic language skills
  • Communication participation level at home, kinder and school.
  1. Provide speech pathology interventions, individual and/or group programs, related to the identified goals using evidence based practice frameworks. Provide and monitor best practice home programs if appropriate.
  2. Liaise with other health providers as required in administration of the client's program.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 24 months experience
  • Speech Pathology Australia member
  • Working with Children's Check
  • Excellent organisation and time management
  • Own vehicle
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Preference given to candidates who are free to work a half day on Saturday

Experience working with clients with ASD both individually and in groups is preferable. Commencement date is for early 2018.

We reflect a multi-disciplinary care approach, prioritising the individual needs of our clients. We are a team of 5 part-time and full-time dedicated staff with wonderful administrative and office support personnel. PIC has developed innovative programs, some of which are current pilot research projects.

Our practice offers mentoring/support from within the clinic and additional consultative support from external mental health professionals is provided on a routine basis.
