You will contribute to the efficient operation of Patient Services at the Lyell McEwin SA Pathology site by providing a high level of customer service and care to patients. Your duties will encompass phlebotomy, specimen collection, specimen management and administration. You will also contribute to the management of specimens in the pre-analytical stage that ensure the delivery of quality samples for testing that leads to the timely diagnosis and treatment of the patient. You will ensure that equipment and consumables are maintained in a clean, safe and well-resourced state, and provide a basic first aid service. With flexibility of rosters and hours and no 24 hour shift rotation required, you will be able to achieve a better work/life balance with SA Pathology. Our 19 laboratories are distributed throughout South Australia’s metropolitan and regional hospitals and are supported by more than 55 conveniently located patient collection centres.
You will have successful completion of the Certificate III in Pathology Specimen Collection or an equivalent qualification, along with accurate and current paediatric phlebotomy and hospital phlebotomy experience. To be successful in this role, you will need to have good manual dexterity and an ability to show empathy and understanding to patients. Demonstrating a good understanding of patient confidentiality, you will have strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team environment. Good typing and keyboard skills will also be beneficial.
