Enrolled Nurse Transition Program:

NWMH Adult and Youth Inpatient Units welcome applications from recently Graduated or Entry Level Enrolled Nurses with a genuine interest in Mental Health to take part in our Enrolled Nurse Transition to Mental Health Nursing Practice program. Positions are Full Time, 80 hours per fortnight (monthly ADO) with a rotating roster.

If you are an Enrolled Nurse, interested in Mental Health Nursing, have finished a Diploma of Nursing within the last 12 months and are finding it difficult to get an opportunity to work in a Mental Health setting because of lack of experience, this program could be for you.

About You:

  • Enrolled Nurse with current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) as an Enrolled Nurse (Medication Endorsed).
  • Awareness of mental health nursing practice and the ability to develop skills in risk assessment, mental state assessment, and care planning.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Commitment to excellence in nursing practice and continuing professional development.
  • Understand the professional, ethical, legal responsibilities of Enrolled Nurses.
  • Understand the importance of providing nursing care which focuses on the best possible outcomes for your patients
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills as well as an ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
