About the Role
The Western Health Orthopaedic Unit is one of the largest Orthopaedic Units with 20 senior medical staff and over 3000 elective and trauma operations per year. The unit has dedicated operating time covering elective / emergency and trauma lists, structured business and audit meeting times. Adult Outpatient clinics are held weekly with adult fracture clinics conducted across both Sunshine and Footscray.
We have dedicated Paediatric Outpatient and Fracture Clinics held weekly at Sunshine Hospital. An emergency receiving roster operates across Western and Sunshine Hospitals. The unit has a strong skill mix of junior medical staff being supported by 9 Registrars, 4 HMOs and 3 Interns rostered across all sites.
The Registrars are comprised of 3 Accredited Advanced Trainees which are selected by the College and 6 Unaccredited Registrars. The Unaccredited Registrars will rotate to Warrnambool on a 3 - 6 monthly rotation. The unit is also supported by a Research Database Manager and a Secretary.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Medical Officers interested in pursuing further training as a Registrar in this area of speciality. This position would be suitable for a trainee awaiting an Accredited position with the College (SET). The positions are for 12 months commencing on February 2019.
