Where you'll be working
This role sits within the Adult Mental Health Unit of Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital with ample public transport access and parking available. You would be working as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team who values employees and their contribution to health services management and high quality clinical service delivery.

What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert nursing who will provide leadership, advice and recommendations on all aspects of nursing and consults on matters relating to the safe and appropriate use of nursing practices. 

The CNC will formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities. The CNC is responsible for the provision of clinical supervision to nursing staff and acts as a role model, providing nursing care on a regular basis.


Employees must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct. Criminal record checks will be undertaken on successful applicants and applicants for positions designated as Category A will be required to obtain required vaccinations prior to commencing employment. 

 

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:


  • Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  • A registered nurse who has a minimum of 5 years full time post graduate experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the speciality field. In addition the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification relevant to the speciality and hold a Masters (pertaining to speciality field) or is willing to enrol and commence a Masters in the relevant speciality field within two years of the appointment.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake quality improvement and research activities that influence and enhance clinical practice and implement change.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with experience using MS Office programs and electronic filing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
