About the Position

Located in the scenic district of eastern Toowoomba, Symes Thorpe offers an open environment with a number of smaller houses, grouped into three areas of support including 24-hour nursing & care services, dementia support and respite. The facility is fully accredited. Symes Thorpe boasts a full commercial kitchen, providing freshly prepared meals and catering for special dietary needs.

Toowoomba, known as the Garden City, is 90 minutes from Brisbane and boast 150-plus parks and gardens. Every Spring sees the celebration of The Carnival of Flowers which incorporates parades, fireworks displays, wine, food and music. The city’s history dates from early 1840’s with the Trust-owned Royal Bull’s Head Inn still on Brisbane Street today, and the Cobb+Co Museum boasting an extensive collection of horse-drawn vehicles. The region is also rich in Indigenous history and culture, with the first peoples inhabiting the area up to 40,000 years before European settlement.

Due to the retirement of our current Facility Manager, Anglicare are looking for an experienced leader who can see the big picture, and is able to drive both cultural and clinical practice to ensure the provision of high quality services to aged care residents. This will be achieved by effectively leading, motivating and developing a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of individualised care while enhancing residents’ quality of life, and achieving the strategic direction of the organisation within designated clinical and business frameworks.

This full time Facility Manager role is responsible for the effective and efficient operations of the Facility within budgetary requirements, while achieving optimal quality standards within all legislative requirements, financial performance and resident outcomes of the facility; and will participate as an effective member of the Executive Leadership Team. The position is supported by Corporate Services and a Governance, Risk and Assurance team in Brisbane.

 

About You

An experienced senior nurse with a passion for Aged Care, you will offer the ability to lead and develop teams, and have demonstrable knowledge of, and experience in:

  • Contemporary clinical practice standards within the Aged Care sector
  • Recent management competencies in operational planning, resource and budget management
  • Guiding principles, funding instruments and sources relevant to residential care facilities
  • Strong leadership and cultural development background, with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Development of, and innovation in, service delivery and standards of practice
  • Preparation and implementation of a relevant and realistic business plan, considering geographic, strategic and financial elements

Your management within Aged Care or Health, will have established strong attributes and personal traits, including:

  • The ability to lead, guide, mentor and develop a large and diverse team within a resident-centred environment
  • Confident communication and a focus on building strong, effective and productive working relationships, both internally and externally
  • A critical thinker with advanced problem solving, negotiation, influencing and change management skills
  • Evidence-based focus on high quality care, including a passion for the industry and a belief in personal and professional ethics
  • Commitment to steering continuous quality improvement within the facility and larger organisation

To be successful in this role, you must have extensive nursing experience preferably within a specialist aged care position and:

  • A degree in nursing with current AHRPA registration and evidence of practice
  • Evidence of current or completed study in a relevant field of Business or Management
  • Ability to meet the requirements of a Key Personnel Check (Aged Care Act 1997)
  • A current National Police Certificate
  • Queensland Driver Licence and your own reliable vehicle
