About the business and the role

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accredited Exercise Physiologist/Sports Scientist with experience in general population training and athletic rehabilitation and conditioning, who is looking to advance their career.

We are seeking an Exercise Physiologist to provide exercise prescription expertise to local general practitioners, practice nurses, physiotherapists, businesses and the local community. This includes receiving and attending to patient referrals, the provision of clinical management, care coordination and patient referral to other relevant support services

The successful applicant will be working in a private setting working closely with an allied health team, servicing mainly private practice clientele in both one on one and small group settings. They will be working alongside the allied health team and contributing towards the recovery and general well-being of clients. They will assist the team in providing care to a range of clients from the local communities by developing new business and building rapport with existing patients and referring GP's.  There will be a strong focus on working in the areas of highest priority to future growth of the company, and a passionate candidate is wanted. An opportunity exists to expand service delivery to a range of clients and settings, including occupational health, work injury prevention and occupational rehabilitation. They will also take an active role in the coordination, development and facilitation of local initiatives which encourage uptake of the programs, enhance community health and drive a process for the integration of local chronic disease management services advice across the continuum of care, in order to more effectively treat chronic conditions including but not limited to diabetes and coronary heart disease.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our dynamic team of health professionals and be part of creating a healthy future for the Adelaide Metropolitan area. This position is based at two of our sites but may involve work at any of our sites and other locations in the community from time to time as required. The opening of our new exercise and Pilates studio at the Oakden Medical Centre is imminent.  Contract or part time options will be considered.

Job tasks and responsibilities

Duties / responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Clinical assessment and treatment of a range of clients both individually and through group sessions.
• Provision of education and exercise prescription to enable clients to improve the self-management of their chronic condition and prevent further complications.
• Working collaboratively with other health professionals as part of a close knit team across Aim Health Solutions' geographical area in delivering chronic disease services including, but not limited to, diabetes, coronary heart disease and chronic disease self-management.
• The ability to maintain accurate records that reflect best practice in service delivery in accordance with clinical governance strategies.
• Contribute to the development of the models of care and be innovative in the delivery of services for the community.
• Ability to project manage short term projects as the need arises. This will include working closely with community stakeholders and bringing about change to improve health in the Aim HEALTH Solution's area within the allocated budget and timelines.

Essential Minimum Selection Criteria

• Registration and accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with Exercise Sports Science Australia
• Registered as an exercise physiologist with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority
• Qualifications or experience in the area of Chronic Disease Management as an Exercise Physiologist
• Knowledge and experience in the management and prevention of Chronic Disease
• Ability to engage clients from a range of backgrounds
• Demonstrated ability to be able to assess client needs, case manage, deliver services and follow up patients within scope of service delivery and contract funding.

Skills and experience

Experience Required

• Experience in a private practice setting is preferred but not essential.
• Experience working with other allied health, medical and sports practitioners in delivering integrated services is an advantage
• The ability to show evidence of proactive professional development
• Public speaking and presentation skills are considered important
• Experience and/or willingness to build networks and referral bases is expected
