About Department
The Oncology Services at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne is provided across a broad range of inpatient, ambulatory and outpatient settings. Specialising in complex clinical care of tumor disease with a strong focus on clinical trials and research, care is provided in the inpatient acute setting, chemotherapy day unit, apheresis unit and specialist and cancer centre clinics.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity currently exists for an experienced Patient Services Clerk to join our friendly team at the Cancer Centre in Fitzroy on a full time permanent basis. You will be responsible for providing effective and efficient customer service to our patients, other departments within the hospital, external agencies and the general public.

To be successful you will have excellent communication skills, demonstrated organizational skills with knowledge of hospital operations and systems. You will need a minimum of 2 years administrative &/or reception experience and proven computer skills preferably within the health industry. Orientation and comprehensive training will be provided to the successful candidate

Duties

  • Accurately enter patient admissions, attendances, discharges, appointments in the Patient Administration System
  • Complete all relevant admission paperwork.
  • Ensure all discharges completed by end of shift, and patient records are filed ready for return to HIS.
  • Ensure all outpatient appointment and transport is organised
  • Provide administration support by sorting mail, filing, photocopying and other duties as required.
  • Accurately enter electronic billing for MBS clinics and ensure GP referral.


Skills and Experience

  • Experience in the health industry
  • Knowledge of private health fund billing
  • Knowledge of public health funding
  • Knowledge of Patient Administration Systems
  • Demonstrated communication skills, written and verbal
