About the Department
The Physiotherapy Department provides high quality clinical services across a spectrum of acute, sub-acute and outpatient services. The Department works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, treatment and a range of therapeutic services to optimise patient care and maximise function. The Department is committed to fostering excellence in evidence based clinical care, research and education.

About the Role
Applications are invited from experienced ICU physiotherapists for a Grade 3 position within our cardiorespiratory team. This Gr 3 position is responsible for providing high quality physiotherapy management to the patients of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Dependency Unit (HDU). The position involves taking a leadership role within the department and on the ICU / HDU multidisciplinary team as well as supervision of other physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants and students. The role also assists the cardiorespiratory team leader in the management of the cardio team

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic physiotherapist to join a cohesive and progressive integrated team, committed to excellence in clinical practice, research, service improvement and professional development. Must have, or be currently eligible for, National Physiotherapist Registration.

Duties include:

• Provide expert clinical management for all patients in ICU & HDU
• Provide a tertiary level of consultancy in outlying wards as required
• Involvement in Tracheostomy Review Service ward round and planning
• Lead research and/or quality improvement activities in the Cardio team
• Education and training for weekend staff and grade 1 Physiotherapy staff
• Planning and coordination of external St Vincent’s Cardiorespiratory courses (VinSIM)

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 7 years post graduate physiotherapy experience
• Recent physiotherapy experience in an ICU setting
• Demonstrated superior assessment and treatment skills
• Demonstrated commitment to staff supervision, development and continuing education
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
