Mackay Hospital and Health Service has eight hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and two additional community health services that employ more than 2,700 staff. Your role:

The Nursing Director, Education Unit is responsible for building organisational capability and the provision of strategic leadership for nursing and non-clinical education. The position provides leadership and middle management development across the Mackay Hospital and Health Service (MHHS) and the management of the Education Unit. 

The Nurse Director, Education Unit will collaborate with the Nursing Executive team, support the Strategic Plan 2016-2020 and provide divisional responsibility for nursing staff within the Education Unit.

The Mackay HHS Education Unit is in the Education and Research Centre (Mackay Base Hospital), a new facility incorporating the latest technology for training and educational events. The facility holds a library and a state of the art Simulation Centre. This has increased our capacity to provide high quality education and training opportunities to enhance safety and quality of patient care.

The Education Unit provides educational leadership and fosters and develops lifelong learning opportunities that promote best practice and practice development. This includes services to support orientation, mandatory training, professional development across the MHHS.
