The primary purpose of this position is to act as a focal point for Work Health & Safety (WHS) and wellbeing matters to assist the Facilities and Services in meeting compliance with statutory requirements and strategic directions including:
• Working closely with frontline management and Executive in the implementation of the SESLHD WHS (including manual handling) management system
• Supporting and presenting appropriate training courses and encouraging staff to participate in relevant training course
• Supporting and facilitating WHS consultation processes within SELSHD including providing direct support and advice to Health & Safety Committees and Health and Safety representatives (HSRs)
- Relevant qualifications in WHS (minimum Certificate IV in WHS) and a range of experience, skills and knowledge in operational WHS; and/or a range of experience, skills and knowledge in hazardous manual task or patient handling program development and implementation
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or experience in developing and implementing instructional/educational programs for an adult learning environment
- Detailed knowledge, experience and understanding of the NSW WHS Legislation;
- Demonstrated high level analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to provide authoritative advice and recommendations across a large and complex organisation.
- Demonstrated high level negotiation and facilitation skills and commitment to customer service
- Demonstrated effective time management and ability to work in a complex environment with competing priorities and conflicting deadlines
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management, peers and other key stakeholders
- Current drivers licence (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position)
