Laverty Pathology is a comprehensive medical laboratory and pathology practice with laboratory and patient pathology collection centre locations throughout NSW and ACT. We also provide medical diagnostic services to commercial and government organisations across Australia.

We are currently seeking a Pathology Specimen Collector (Phlebotomist). This position is part time (minimum 40hours per fortnight). The successful candidate will join a friendly and professional team committed to quality patient care.

Your duties will include:

  • Collection of blood and other samples from patients;
  • Packaging and dispatching of specimens;
  • Stock maintenance;
  • Greeting patients/customers and assist with appointments and requests;
  • Receive payments and receipting of patient accounts;
  • Provide advice on special requirements, preparation and instructions for tests;
  • Compliance and adherence with both Laverty Pathology and Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures;
  • Ability to work alone and participate in weekend and rotating roster as well as out of hour’s roster in any of our collection centres;
  • Attend to paperwork and associated clerical duties to ensure all details are correct in a timely manner; and
  • Accurately record information relating to patients and specimen

You will possess:

  • An outstanding patient/customer focus, including the ability to liaise with internal and external customers
  • Must be a cohesive and contributing member of the team and display positive attitudes towards achieving outcomes
  • Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills;
  • Attention to detail and accuracy;
  • A work ethic committed to reliability and quality;
  • A current open Australian Driver’s license and your own transport/vehicle is essential;
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Basic computer skills and exceptional telephone manner; and
  • Previous collection experience is highly desirable
