Who we are

headspace Inala is an established youth health service, focused on delivering improvements in the lives of young people aged 12 to 25 years.  Our multi-disciplinary team of health professionals provides early-intervention supports to young people in the areas of primary health, mental health, drug and alcohol services, and vocation and education services.

Accoras, the lead agency for headspace Inala, operates a number of programs throughout South-East Queensland in the areas of Child, Youth and Family Services, Employment Support Services, Psychology Services, and Community Education Services and is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to join our headspace Inala team.

About the role

The Practice Manager, plays a key role in the daily functioning of the centre.  This ‘hands-on’ role will often be the first point of contact for our clients and referrers, so delivering an exceptional client experience is a must, as is the ability to quickly build rapport with young people accessing our service.  Additionally, the Practice Manager will provide sound information and advice to referrers and parents and carers, exercising judgement and care at all times.

Responsibilities of the Practice Manager include:

  • supervision and leadership of reception staff;
  • managing patient appointments, billing and records within our electronic medical software;
  • developing strategies to improve and increase workflow and maximise patient visits;
  • reporting on patient satisfaction outcomes, utilisation rates and quality improvement activities; and
  • creating a warm, welcoming and safe environment for young people.

Who we are looking for

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of successfully working in a Practice Manager role within the health industry, coupled with a strong understanding of the Better Access initiative, billing processes and compliance requirements.

Additionally, you have;

  • excellent attention to detail, with an eye for quality and accuracy and work with a sense of urgency;
  • the ability to work in challenging situations, often with young people who may be in crisis;
  • a practical and optimistic approach, emotional maturity and are able to own and solve problems;
  • tact and discretion, displaying professionalism in all interactions whilst maintaining the highest level of confidentiality; 
  • proven multi-tasking and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure and within tight timeframes;
  • impeccable customer service and communication skills;
  • strong people management skills and rapport with colleagues;
  • knowledge of risk management and workplace health and safety requirements; and
  • proficient computer skills including the use of: practice/clinical software, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
