What you'll be doing


Provide a specialist Social Work & Psychology service to patients, clients, consumers and their family/carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes consistent with ISLHD policies, procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
 
CPCS is a child and family-centred trauma-specific therapy service. Its overarching purpose is to work towards the recovery and ongoing safety and wellbeing of children involved with the care and protection system. CPCS works with infants, children and young people, and their families and carers where it has been determined by Family and Community Services (FACS) that the children are at risk of significant harm due to violence, abuse and/or neglect.    
The service aims to assist children recover from violence, abuse and/or neglect, and support them to achieve safety, security and permanency.    
Therapeutic work may involve a combination of individual, dyadic, family therapy and group work. In addition to direct therapy with children and families, CPCS provides consultation and training to support other parts of the service system to contribute to the overall therapeutic outcomes for the child and their family/carers where child protection issues are present.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Full registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist or a Social Work degree and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW ); including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the Psychology/AASW Code of Ethics.
  2. Extensive direct clinical experience providing counselling and group work and for people (including children) who have experienced violence, abuse, neglect and trauma. A minimum of 3 years relevant experience post-graduation.
  3. Clear understanding and application of evidence based models of care and demonstrated positive clinical outcomes for clients exposed to or experiencing trauma.
  4. Demonstrated clinical practice with appropriate ethics and boundaries when working therapeutically with children, young people and their families who have experience violence, abuse or neglect as well as a demonstrated understanding of legislation related to the above issues.
  5. Demonstrated high level ability to communicate clearly and succinctly both verbally and in writing, and proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated competence in the use of electronic information systems.
  6. Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and manage stressful situations; ability to work unsupervised and apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel or critical nature.
  7. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities and service evaluation processes with other staff and demonstrated capacity to provide clinical supervision.
  8. Current NSW Drivers Licence, with the ability to travel in accordance with position responsibilities.
