About the Role An exciting opportunity for motivated and skilled Registered Nurses to work at Nepean Hospital, Acute Mental Health Unit. The Acute Mental Health Unit is a purpose built 32 bed unit for consumers with mental health issues across a variety of spectrums. This unit is dynamic in its approach to consumer care and operates within a recovery based framework centred on trauma informed care The Acute unit team is looking for Registered Nurses who are willing to work within a dynamic and strong multi-disciplinary team environment and actively contribute to high quality and innovative health care The Mental Health units works closely with mental health community teams, GPs, G/NG agencies, consumers, family and representatives to ensure timely and recovery focussed discharge back into community life To ensure optimal outcomes for consumers of the service, their family and carers through the promotion of best practice including the appropriate escalation of care To work collaboratively utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team, the person and their family and carer and service partners in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of mental health nursing car To act as an advocate for the specific needs of all consumers their family and carers including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups providing appropriate care to the person accessing mental health services To maintain and promote a professional standard evidenced by ethical nursing practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Mental Health Service, Nursing and Midwifery Service, NBMLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations To provide support and clinical precentorship/mentoring to all staff and students To effectively manage resources relevant to the service About Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District provides world-class clinical care, research and innovation, and is committed to providing a workplace culture that values and promotes the growth of high performing teams and individuals.
