Flexible Work Arrangements - 15 hours per week

We are a social enterprise organisation providing quality sexual and reproductive healthcare services to Australian women and men across our network of accredited health clinics within Australia.
As a counsellor, you will help provide our clients with decision-based counselling and support. Generally the role is located in the CBD or from home as required. We offer flexible work arrangements which include the potential for school hour rostering. Further we provider regular external supervision and annual professional development opportunities built into the package.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing decision and support based counselling for women and their support persons
- Provide counselling services for those who have had a termination and require independent support
- Support counselling team to ensure relevant tools and knowledge base is shared within the team
- Refer clients to MSI external psycho-social service if required
- Involvement in maintaining and developing quality improvement initiatives in the counselling service
- Responsible for the management and recording of notes
- Firm understanding of associated legislation involved with counselling e.g. Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014.
- To ensure all appointments are attended to on time and follow up occurs where required
- Knowledge and understanding of external community agency support systems.
Qualifications, skills and experiences required include the following:
- 3 years + professional counselling experience
- Qualification in relevant discipline - social work, counselling or psychology
- An understanding of and commitment to the social model of human-rights and feminist based frameworks
- Experience providing women centred counselling
- Extensive experience in case management
- An ability to work autonomously and unsupervised
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Willingness to learn with a non-judgmental attitude
- Membership (or eligibility) to a mental health regulatory body such as APS, AASW, ACA or PACFA
- A pro-choice attitude and support for our vision "Children by choice, not chance"
Desirable experience:
- Previous experience in women's reproductive health, pregnancy-care, family violence or similar environments
- Knowledge of trauma, attachment and decision-based frameworks
- Excellent computer skills
