 Women’s Wellness and Recovery Program 

Griffith Location

Counsellor – 0.8 FTE

 

 

Calvary Riverina Drug and Alcohol Centre is seeking an experienced, qualified counsellor to support their new Women’s Wellness & Recovery Program in the community of Griffith. This program provides support to pregnant women and women with children under five years who are experiencing problems with substance abuse.  This service will be located in Griffith however outreach support and liaison with a range of stakeholder agencies will be an important part of this role.

 

Applicants who have Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage would be an advantage.

 

Section Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification - Advanced Diploma in Community Services Drug and Alcohol or higher qualification
  • Minimum five years (5) experience working in the drug and alcohol treatment sector
  • Current NSW Driver’s License
  • High level understanding of contemporary best practice in working with women who are experiencing problems with Alcohol and Other Drug disorders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the impact of substance abuse on women’s health, pregnancy, child rearing and family relationships.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of case management principles
  • High level verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with services and in particular Aboriginal Services to provide culturally effective services to Aboriginal women.
