Position Summary:

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Clinical Perfusionist with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to be able to be involved with the following;


  • Provision of Perfusion Services for the Cardiothoracic Department including running the heart lung machine
  • Participation in an onerous out-of-hours on call roster with substantial call-back
  • Engagement in Heart-Lung Transplant program including involvement in donor retrieval and transplantation
  • Transmedics organ care system retrieval
  • Involvement in in-house ECMO program as well as the NSW ECMO retrieval service
  • Assistance with the Mechanical circulatory support program
  • Maintenance and Cleaning of equipment including quality assurance and related administrative work.
  • Maintenance of an established quality monitoring and improvement and research program

Selection Criteria

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
  • Certification with the Australasian Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion with minimum two years’ experience post certification.
  • ECMO experience including institution, ongoing management and retrieval.
  • Experience in minimally invasive bypass procedures from a perfusion perspective.
  • Willingness to participate in a 1 in 2 on call roster.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills both written and verbal.
