STRENGTHENING HOSPITALS RESPONSE TO FAMILY VIOLENCE PROJECT OFFICER

  • Full Time position (part time hours negotiable)
  • Fixed Term position for 12 months
  • Grade 4B Registered Nurse/ Allied Health Grade 3



About the Department

The Social Work Department is comprised of 3 clinical teams: Acute Medicine, Sub-Acute and Chronic Illness and aims to provide exceptional service delivery to patients within each team. The Social Work Department works across the Fitzroy and Kew sites of SVHM. The Department encourages individual career planning with the aid of various staff support strategies and is committed to a culture of continuous improvement through portfolio and quality activities.


About the Role

An opportunity currently exists for an RN GR4B or AH Gr3 to be appointed on a full time fixed term basis for a period of 12 months. This position has responsibility for supporting the implementation of the Strengthening Hospital Responses to Family Violence (SHRFV) model across SVHM. This includes being part of a team delivering project co-ordination, training, staff support and secondary consultation. The SHRFV model is an implementation framework, using a project management approach. This aims to raise awareness of family violence as part of a ‘whole of hospital’ approach and to strengthen health professional’s capacity to identify and respond to family violence.


Duties

  • Contribute to the development of the model of care for responding to family violence (FV) across the lifespan for implementation as per set timelines.
  • Support the implementation of the whole of hospital FV model in conjunction with the SHRFV Project Manager and the SHRFV Project team.
  • Contribute and participate in the implementation of a plan to deliver on the SHRFV program objectives in relation to policies and procedures, training, stakeholder engagement, community education, data collection, attendance at meetings and reporting, in accordance with timeframes and resources.
  • Embed the SHRFV program and sensitive practice, integrating any new reforms in the care provided by identified clinical areas, ensuring that its delivery is sustainable into the future.
  • Actively support the SHRFV Team staff and promote, coordinate and manage the development and implementation of a Clinical Champion network
  • Provide advice and support to the SHRFV Project Team in the continuous development of the SVHM’s ‘whole of hospital’ response to family violence


Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Current Nursing or Allied Health Professional Registration with AHPRA (where required)
  • Social Work: Eligible for Membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Holds a current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • Significant experience at a Senior Clinician level/ relevant experience as a Nursing/Allied Health care professional and /or equivalent (Allied Health: 7 years min)
  • Knowledge of current standards of practice for health professionals and supporting education, competency and workforce frameworks
  • Knowledge and understanding of the family violence policy and service delivery environment in Victoria
  • Experience working in a hospital in a clinical role with people affected by family violence.
  • Experience delivering training, preferably training pertaining to family violence
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of cultural safety principles in relation to Aboriginal health
