Villa Maria Catholic Homes (VMCH) Providence Aged Care facility is a warm, happy and friendly community where residents enjoy security and companionship in peaceful surroundings.  Dedicated and professional staff provide care tailored to each resident’s physical, social, cultural and spiritual needs. 

Currently, Providence is being renovated and updated to expand the accommodation from a 40+bed facility, to a 60 bed facility by the end of 2018 (with further expansion to be completed 2019).

This is an exciting time to join the friendly team at Providence, to help navigate and lead the team in meeting the challenges of this expansion.

In the early stages of this role, the Care Manager’s level of responsibility will include hands on clinical care of residents.  As the facility expands, it is envisioned other people will perform the majority of clinical care duties, enabling the Care Manager greater focus on the managerial aspects of the role. Initially the role will be 7.00am to 3.00 pm until the 2018 renovations are complete and the facility is fully operational.

About the role:

In consultation with the Residential Services Manager and our multidisciplinary team, the Care Manager provides clinical leadership in all aspects of the operations of the facility.  A team focus approach is required co-ordinate and manage nursing staff, carers, residents, families, support staff and relevant community care teams to facilitate an effective resident focused service.

Essential for success in this role is self-motivation, a high level of organisation, and time management skills with an exceptional attitude regarding teamwork, including willingness to pitch in and go the extra mile as required!

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the day to day clinical operations
  • Lead and manage teams by identifying strong team goals and providing clear direction
  • Develop and facilitate effective teams through leadership, development of team goals, role-modelling, meeting structures and clear communication
  • Ensure the provision of high levels of clinical care to all residents in ways that support the development & maintenance of physical, psychological, spiritual and social wellbeing and reflects an understanding of aged care and the needs of older people
  • Advocates for individuals/groups and their rights within organisational and management structure
  • Orientate and support new nursing and care staff in their role, the physical environment and equipment, including occupational health and safety requirements

You will have:

  • Registered Nurse qualifications and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA)
  • An understanding and ability to ensure compliance with residential Aged Care Standards, ACFI requirements, Occupational Health and Safety, food safety and other professional legislative requirements which affect the provision of care and services to residents
  • The ability to lead, support and supervise staff
  • Current Nursing experience and clinical expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills and patience
