Purpose of Position

The provision of direct patient care and daily clinical supervision and management of

Emergency Department (ED) services.

John Hunter Hospital - Newcastle, NSW

Applications are sought from suitably qualified consultant emergency physicians for the above positions at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, NSW to cover weekend shifts.

John Hunter is the largest hospital in the district, with approximately 650 beds (including the John Hunter Children’s Hospital) and forms part of the Greater Newcastle Sector which covers the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens geographical area.

John Hunter is a Level 6, tertiary referral, major trauma and teaching hospital, servicing a population of more than 800,000 people. We have the busiest Emergency Department in the state and are the main teaching hospital of the University of Newcastle Joint Medical Program.

Demonstrated commitment to a patient focused service. Experience working in a department with significant paediatric activity. Computer literacy.
