The Practice

Conveniently positioned within Melbourne's Inner East, this established and thriving private billing clinic enjoys a long-standing relationship with the surrounding suburbs and communities. Comprising a group of skin specialist practitioners who uphold the philosophy of providing family oriented, high quality care, this is a unique practice and much loved by loyal staff, consultants and their patients.


The Role

With anticipated ongoing growth within this business, our client now looks to appoint an experienced Practice Manager, on a permanent full-time basis.  The Practice Manager role will oversee daily practice functions and provide guidance to a long standing staff team whilst identifying and implementing efficiencies and streamlined work methods. The position offers genuine autonomy and decision making to effect positive, progressive enhancements within an already flourishing environment. The ideal Practice Manager will promote an inclusive environment that encourages all administrative staff to contribute to a range of operational business procedures.


Indicative responsibilities include (not limited to):


  • Oversee the smooth daily operations of the business
  • Staff management, leadership and support of a high functioning team
  • Ability to lead, grow and develop the practice and facilitate necessary change
  • Understanding private medical business in the context of finance, operations, human resources and marketing
  • Encouraging the principles of the practice, ensuring that the running of the business is proficient and invites all employees to achieve the core missions and values
  • Operationalising business plans, practice promotion and reporting on trends and changes within the business in partnership with the Practice Principal and other senior stakeholders
  • Facilitating team meetings designed to engage and inform staff, set behaviour standards and model the values of the business
  • Engage in contemporary HR practice: attracting and onboarding professional, experienced admin and nursing staff,, induction and ongoing development of your team
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills and confidence in dealing with a multitude of personalities with the ability to lead the team
About You

Focusing on the business module of the practice, the Practice Manager position is a senior role within the business and thus requires a proven individual with the ability to work autonomously yet within a team environment.  You will demonstrate a commitment to professional practice and hold yourself accountable for delivering against agreed objectives. You'll be professional with the ability to represent the business interest whilst maintaining close working relationships with your staff.  Your ability to engage and motivate others will be a key strength along with modelling a strong work ethic. You will assist and engage the team in promoting the need for continuity of care for the clinic’s existing and new patient demographic.

The office environment is intimate and will suit a mature candidate with an adaptable style, highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to step up and execute soft authority if required. Experience using Medilink and Medical Director software will be highly regarded, though not essential.


Salary and Benefits

An attractive annual salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate and will reflect the qualifications, experience and value brought to the role and the business. A salary review will be offered at three and six months to reflect the achievement of agreed objectives and to recognise your contribution to the practice throughout the probationary period.
