About the Role
We are seeking a Medical Officer to join the Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) Medical Assessment team.
This position is responsible for medically assessing candidates to determine their suitability for entry into the Australian Defence Forces. Utilising your extensive medical background the successful applicant will make accurate clinical decisions that are relied upon at all stages of a candidates assessment and enlistment.
This role requires high level interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships as it works as part of a multidisciplinary team including Nursing, Administration, Psychology, Recruitment and Military personnel.
There is a requirement for three days per week, additional shifts will be negotiable to suit the right applicant. Hours are, generally, 7.30am – 3.30pm. Days required are a minimum Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
As this site forms part of a Region and a wider National team some intra state travel may be required to assist at other sites when needed and is always fully paid. Furthermore there is the recommended requirement for 2-4 weeks full time work upon commencement of employment to fast track training and learning.
This position is based in Rhodes on an ongoing basis however, due to a planned relocation the initial requirement (until October 2018) will be in Parramatta.

About You
The ideal candidate will have a general practice, occupational medicine or medical on-base/defence background. Specific experience in pre-employment medicals would be desirable. Confidence in navigating company software and general computer skills along with a desire to be a team player is critical to the success of the applicant. Experience in the provision of training and auditing of clinical services would be advantageous.
To be eligible for this position applicants must have unconditional registration with AHPRA, Australian Citizenship and be willing to undergo the Australian Defence Force (ADF) security clearance process. Vocational registration with the relevant professional college would be highly advantageous.
