Position

Austin Bank is recruiting highly experienced and motivated Registered and Enrolled nurses to work across all areas, including acute and sub-acute general medical, surgical and specialty departments.

Successful applicants will possess a patient centre approach to care delivery and enjoy the challenge of working with a variety of medical and surgical conditions. Austin Bank nurses are an important part of the organisation and are the face of Austin Health’s Workforce team.

Working on Austin Bank allows you to design your own roster to support your lifestyle through our easy to navigate online system. You will be part of a flexible Workforce, and may receive shifts at short notice or up to 4 weeks in advance as available.

 

Expectations of role

As a Registered Nurse working with Austin Health, it is expected that you will:

  • Practice within own scope of practice in accordance with legislation and policy affecting nursing practice and healthcare
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to unsafe or unprofessional practice
  • Practise in a way that acknowledges the dignity, culture, values, beliefs and rights of individuals /groups and aligning to Austin Health’s organisational values.
  • Act as an advocate for patients within organisational and management structures of Austin Health.
  • Recognise the difference in accountability and responsibility between registered nurses, enrolled nurses and unlicensed health care workers

 

The successful applicant will need to:

  • Possess exceptional communication skills
  • Have a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Have a minimum of 12 months Australian acute or sub-acute experience
  • Have Australian working rights
  • Not work more than 64hrs in a fortnight across other organisations
  • Provide a minimum of 2 clinical references including a current NUM or manager, and an ANUM or Nurse Educator level
  • Commit to being available to work a minimum of one shift a fortnight

If you have previously been unsuccessful in your application to our nurse bank you are required to gain a minimum 12 month’s further clinical nursing experience before reapplying.

Please include in your application a current Certificate of Service if you are employed with a nursing agency.
