Project Lead - Choosing Wisely Scaling Collaboration
Emergency Department
Fixed Term - Part Time
(54 hours per fortnight)
Ballarat Health Services has been funded through the Better Care Victoria Innovation Fund, in partnership with NPS MedicineWise and Austin Health, to be a Choosing Wisely champion hospital. Choosing Wisely champion hospitals seek to improve the quality of healthcare by questioning the need for tests, treatments and procedures that evidence shows provide no benefit in medical management.
We are seeking a Project Lead to facilitate implementation and management of this project over a 12 month period. This role is primarily responsible for supporting and enacting the aims of the Choosing Wisely collaboration including to decrease the proportion of low value care practices delivered in health services by reducing unnecessary requesting of tests, treatments and procedures, through the following activities:
- In collaboration with the Clinical Lead, work with Emergency Department staff to reduce unnecessary testing by improving clinical reasoning and developing algorithms around pathology and radiology ordering.
- Facilitate partnering with Dorevitch Pathology to enable BHS to monitor pathology ordering and relevance, and reduce waste and clinical risk for both patients and BHS.
- Partner with radiology providers to reduce unnecessary radiological testing to improve treatment timeliness and reduce radiation exposure.
BHS’s core values of Teamwork, Respect, Accountability and Compassion are clearly embedded within this project, which will reduce unnecessary medical interventions while providing world-class, sustainable health care.
Appointment is subject to a satisfactory Immunisation clearance and a satisfactory current Police Record Check.
All applications must be submitted online.
BHS is committed to providing a diverse and inclusive workforce. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, mature age workers and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people.
