Job Description
Banyule Community Health seeks to employ an experienced Family and Child Psychologist to join an established multidisciplinary team, to provide psychological assessment and treatment services to children aged 0-8 years and provide support for families and Allied Health professionals. The key responsibilities for this position include
- Provide psychological assessment and evidence based treatment services to children 0-8 years to enhance their social, emotional and psychological development.
- Participate in the planning, delivery and evaluation of intra disciplinary peadiatric group therapy programs
- Support families and children to understand, manage and overcome difficult personal challenges
- Provide support to schools/preschools/childcare in strategies and management of social, emotional and educational needs
- Build capacity for paediatric allied health and mental health clinicians through secondary consultations
Experience and skills required for this role include:
- Highly skilled in the provision of cognitive, behavioural and educational assessments and observation skills
- High level of organizational, oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Experience in child and family work, trauma informed practice, parenting programs and school readiness programs
- A solid understanding of attachment theory in context of the child’s development and family relationships
- Ability to work as part of a paediatric inter-disciplinary team and across multidisciplinary teams as well as work independently
- Training in circle of security highly advantageous
