Hurstville Private is an acute Surgical/Medical 167 Bed Hospital, consisting of 7 operating theatres, 2 Catheter Laboratories, a renowned Maternity Unit and Level 2 Intensive Care (ICU) and Coronary Care Units (CCU). We specialise in complex Orthopaedic trauma, Urology, Colorectal, Plastic, Bariatric, Gynaecology, General and Dental surgical procedures. Hurstville Private is 16 km south east of Sydney's CBD and cares for diverse cultural mix of clients.
About the role
In line with Hurstville Private Hospital's program for expanded services provision, an opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced senior Occupational Therapist to join our community team who will report to the Community Care Manager. This role requires sound understanding of National Disability Insurance scheme (NDIS), Home Care Packages (HCP), CTP and workover occupational therapist assessment and treatment practices, in relation to home modifications, wheelchair and associated equipment prescription, home and inpatient based therapies. Additionally, a solid understanding of hospital complex discharge planning related to aged care and disability patient care. As a qualified senior occupational therapist you will enjoy the flexibility of providing evidence based treatments and assessments within the hospital and our community care team.
Essential Criteria
- Registration as a occupational therapist with the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency
- Previous experience at a senior level
- A minimum of five (5) years post registration clinical experience in aged care, disability, inpatient and/or Community Based Services.
- Demonstrated experience in home modifications, wheelchair and equipment prescription (complex/simple)
- Demonstrated understanding of National Disability Insurance scheme, Home Care Packages, CTP and workcover funding compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and quality improvement
- Computer literacy, with knowledge of current software.
- Adaptable and able to think laterally
- Current C Class Drivers Licence
- Be available to work flexible hours
- Be a team player
