NSW Health Pathology is after a dynamic senior leader who is committed to delivering the world class scientific and technical expertise and services. Ideally you will have the skills to:

  • Lead the strategic direction of our scientific and technical services to support current and future statewide service delivery needs for patients and customers
  • Act as an executive advocate for the important contribution of our scientific and technical staff
  • Lead futures thinking and champion scientific and technical innovation in our laboratories and
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of NSWHPs clinical governance principles, structure and processes

Reporting to the Chief Executive, this role will need to demonstrate a superior knowledge of laboratory sciences and strong organisational reform capabilities coupled with high-level influence and stakeholder management skills.

As a member of the Strategic Leadership Team, this role will be a highly visible leader at all levels of the organisation and will need to share our commitment to working collaboratively across complex, interrelated service areas and to building trust, effective communication and negotiation at the senior level.

Where you'll be working

Being part of NSW Health Pathology means you’re helping create better health and justice systems every day.

 

We operate more than 60 laboratories and around 200 collection centres across NSW and conduct over 60 million tests per annum. Our network of pathologists are supported by scientists, technicians and support staff who quickly and accurately assess samples so clinical teams can make the best possible treatment decisions for patients. Our Forensic & Analytical Science Service provides independent, objective analysis to the NSW criminal and coronial justice systems.

  1. Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field with extensive relevant clinical, diagnostic or forensic laboratory experience commensurate with a senior executive scientific position.
  2. Proven ability to champion innovation and successfully lead transformation and change.
  3. High level skills in the analysis of complex scientific, laboratory, clinical and technical policy and planning issues and ability to lead the formulation of strategies to support organisational strategic and operational priorities.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to effective and efficient service delivery, evidence based best practice, a strong patient and customer focus and the principles of quality and safety management and continuous improvement in all aspects of laboratory operations.
  5. Evidence of ability to communicate, consult and negotiate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders and customers around strategic scientific, laboratory and technical issues and workforce matters.
  6. Proven ability to work as a team member with effective communication and interpersonal skills at an executive level and adaptability to work within a cross functional team environment.
  7. Contemporary knowledge of standards, accreditation processes, legislation and policies relevant to Australian pathology service practice.
