Central Sterilising Department
FULL TIME POSITION

The Hospital
Owned and operated by Ramsay Health Care, Australia's largest and most respected private hospital operator, Peninsula Private Hospital is a comprehensive 253 bed acute emergency, surgical, medical, cardiac and obstetric facility located in the bayside town of Frankston in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs. The hospital currently accommodates a 14 bay emergency department, 160 medical and surgical, 14 cardiac, 11 ICU, 7 Neonatal, 14 Obstetric, and 33 Oncology beds which include 10 day infusion chairs. As a fully accredited health care facility we offer the highest standards of clinical care, patient service, and technology.

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic individual to lead and manage the Central Sterilising Department at Peninsula Private Hospital.

This position is open to Instrument Technicians with current knowledge of all aspects of Sterilising Services and the requirement of AS/NZS4187.

The role: To establish and ensure minimum requirements are met for the care, handling and reprocessing of reusable medical devices within the Sterilising Services Department and overseeing the implementation and ongoing coordination of Sterilising Services program at the Hospital. The successful applicant will have proven leadership abilities, excellent communication skills and a strong focus on customer care.

Salary will be based on successful applicants background and experience.

The Selection applicant must also meet the following criteria;

  • Completed a recognised Sterilisation Course such as a Cert. IV in Sterilising Practice or be working towards.
  • Have a minimum 3 years CSSD experience in an acute setting
  • A strong interest in mentoring and development of staff
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in leading a team, including training, assessment, and supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and strong process improvement orientation
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and the achievement of excellence
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent time management skills, autonomy and accountability.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of specialist equipment

Responsibilities will include;

  • Managing work flow and rosters
  • Liaising with Theatre Staff
  • Equipment budgets and equipment purchasing and maintenance.
  • Training of inexperienced staff, and managing professional development of the team.
