About the Department
St Vincent's Operating Suite currently houses 12 theatres, 12 anaesthetic rooms and a Post Anaesthetic Care Area. Working alongside the Sterile Processing Centre, Day Procedures and Endoscopy Centres. The department undertakes over 9,000 procedures per year in a vast range of highly specialised and complex specialities over a 24 hour period, 7 days per week.
About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated Grade 2 Registered Nurses with perioperative scrub/scout experience, who are seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity to become part of our dynamic team, on a permanent full time basis.
We are able to provide you with excellent educational opportunities across a broad range of specialities including Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Neurosurgery, ENT, Plastics, General, Urology and Orthopaedics.
Duties
- Ability to work efficiently as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Managing the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
- Administration of medication in accordance with hospital procedures, protocols and policies
- Assist with medical and diagnostic procedures carried out in the unit
- Document, observe and report relevant nursing findings within the framework of nursing progress
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor of Nursing Degree
- Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA
- Good understanding of the role of the scrub/scout nurse including the current standards of practice
- Minimum 12 months current experience in perioperative nursing
- Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate in Perioperative Nursing (desirable)
- Motivated, professional & exhibiting exceptional communication and time management skills
