Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for enthusiastic HMOs to join Austin Health in 2019 as a HMO3/BPT2 in our Medical/Physician Training Stream.

Details of position/position requirements

Approximately 45 positions are available in the Physician Training program at BPT2 level for 2019.  Successful applicants may rotate through general and specialist medical units at Austin Health, Northern Health, Bendigo Health and Wimmera Healthcare Group.

The Central North West Consortium offers comprehensive support across all years of the PREP program with all rotations accredited by the RACP. A training program to support trainees preparing for the written and clinical RACP examinations has been implemented across all sites within the consortium. In-house written exam lectures are held September to January each year finishing with a mock 170 question written exam.  Applicants for PGY3 positions intending to complete the RACP examination process will be given priority for subsequent appointment to PGY4 positions the following year to enable optimal allocation of rotations and facilitate exam preparation for trainees. To be successful in this role you must:

• Have a minimum two years post-graduate medical experience
• Have one year accredited training completed with RACP as a BPT (desirable)
• Be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) of Australia 
• Dedication to delivering excellent service – to patients, all colleagues (nursing, medical, managerial, support staff), GPs and other contact points
