What happens to the village once we’re no longer a child?

They say it takes a village to raise a child but at St Basil’s, we understand that it takes a village to create a happy, well-rounded and engaging life at any age.

Our dynamic Residential Manager who led the charge on reinvigorating the Aegean Village at Christie Downs over the last five years is moving on to other challenges and she wants us to find someone that will amply fill the role of Residential Manager, with passion, innovation and motivation to make every day count for 100 residents and families.

What‘s life at St Basil’s all about?

Like an extended family member, St Basil’s in South Australia builds a community within a community to care for our elders when they can no longer stay in their family home. Life isn’t meant to be lived in a hotel or a hospital. No-one wants that. What we do want is to know that our clinical needs are met, but our lifestyle opportunities and choices are optimised as much as possible, supported by people who care about the individual. We work hand in hand and collaboratively to ensure that our residents are living well, their way.

Are you the leader?

The Residential Manager is the leader of the facility; they ensure that everything is enabled and in place to make sure that each person can live the life that they’re able to. This means maintaining the status quo but challenging and changing it to set new standards, in keeping with our organisational anchor of “living well”.

At the Aegean Village, there’s a commercial kitchen and laundry, expansive garden opportunities, a gym and hair salon for our residents, and our personal favourite Zoi Kafe, which is open to the public and serves the best coffee this side of the Southern Expressway.

The Residential Manager oversees all these facilities. They need to present professionally, communicate like a respected ambassador, attend events and community activities, and love to learn and lead with an acumen that combines business and emotional intelligence. Important is the urge to aspire and seek better ways of doing things, so that – hand on heart – our residents are “living well”.

Of course, exceeding Accreditation Standards, reporting constructively, and managing financial, Risk, WH&S and work force indicators are part of the role as are working with your clinical, hospitality and lifestyle leads.

To secure an interview, your application needs to show evidence of:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or evidence of skills in Business and Leadership
  • Leadership, relationship, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to see magic where others see the mundane
  • Flexible working hours
  • An agile work ethic
  • A valid Police Check/Certificate.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
  • High proficiency with MS Office
