Reporting to the Director, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast growing, field-leading research and commercial services organisation. They have a growing reputation for being innovative and taking different approaches.  Due to exponential growth, they have recently moved to a state of the art new facility.  You will be joining a very dedicated team and you will play a key role in driving operational excellence to enable future growth. 

You will be responsible for the general management of all core operations and you will coordinate across all areas of the business to ensure teams are working together and within the framework of the strategic plan. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Day to day operational management of the business, building a strong operational infrastructure to support the research teams
• Strategic planning including creating a framework for all planning plus coordinating documentation and plans from each team
• Diverse external stakeholder management including setting up and maintaining external partnerships with governments, universities, donors, manufacturers, other research bodies etc
• Managing all finances and budgets
• Ensuring the terms of all external contracts are compliant with legislative requirements and organisational objectives plus managing all ongoing contractual arrangements with external partners
• Extensive report writing including Board reporting, business case preparation, summarising and collating complex data and information
• Internal and external communication including media liaison via management of the Communications team
• People management and internal relationship management.  Establish credibility and respect across the organisation to enable you to drive operations to achieve maximum potential

To be successful in the role we are seeking:

• Ideally relevant postgraduate qualifications
• Ideally some background within the research sector, or Foundations, or within other relevant science-related areas 
• A demonstrated record of success running small to medium operations and taking the organisation through a successful growth strategy
• Leadership, executive management and exceptional people management skills to engender cooperation amongst all teams to work towards organisational goals
•  Strong financial acumen and prior experience managing multimillion dollar budgets
• Extensive expertise in external stakeholder management and partnership building with stakeholders such as governments, universities, industry, international/private sources of health research funding etc
• Excellent written communication skills for example report writing, board report preparation, summaries of complex research data and information.  You also need superior networking, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Ideally media liaison skills and management of Communications teams
