You will contribute to the delivery of high quality patient care within the Emergency Department at Riverland General Hospital. Assessing individual patient needs, you will plan, implement or coordinate appropriate service delivery from a range of accepted options. This will include recognising and responding to clinical deterioration or other incidents and escalating appropriately. It is expected that you will provide support and guidance to newer or less experienced staff, Enrolled Nurses, student nurses and other workers providing basic nursing care. Consolidating your knowledge and skills, you will develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with all members of the Emergency Department team. Riverland General Hospital provides a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services to patients from across the Riverland and surrounding communities including the Mallee. We provide care to patients with an acute illness, along with accident and emergency, medical, day and inpatient surgical, obstetrics and high dependency care. We also provide maternity services for the Riverland district.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With one year or more experience in an Emergency Department, you will be Advanced Life Support certified and competent at patient assessment using the Australasian Triage scale. You will possess excellent communication and problem solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. This will be evident in your ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within an emergency department setting.
