About the Role

The Charters Towers Rehabilitation Unit (CTRU) aims to provide medium term Rehabilitation for people who have experienced significant mental Health related issues, who would benefit from a community based inpatient services to support their recovery and transition into the community. As part of this role the recreation officer is required to support consumers as part of their recovery with a range of activities such as shopping, physical exercise as well engage in community activities under the supervision of the senior allied health and nursing staff.

About the Charters Towers Rehabilitation Unit

The Charters Towers Rehabilitation Unit (CTRU) is a 27 bed residential facility offering extended care, rehabilitation, and dual disability treatment for people who have long term residual and complex mental health needs. CTRU can offer care and treatment to residents accommodated in the main building in two care units, progressing to more independent living in cluster and single units situated in the surrounding gardens. The facility is engaged in an integration program that is designed to prepare residents for community re-integration and ongoing long-term 24-hour care.

  • Roles that have a direct contact with patients or who in the course of their work may be exposed to blood/body fluids or contaminated sharps are required to be immunised for Hepatitis B.
  • Roles that have contact that would allow acquisition and/or transmission of measles, mumps, rubella, varicella or pertussis, and have face to face contact with patients and/or work in a clinical area require evidence of immunisation of the aforementioned diseases.
