Ramsay Health Care, Australia's largest and most respected private hospital operator, is seeking applications for a full-time permanent role as Manager of Health Information Services for two hospitals in Melbourne’s South East - Waverley Private Hospital in Mount Waverley and Linacre Private Hospital in Hampton.

Both sites provide medical and surgical services including Day Procedures; with Maternity Services, Early Parenting Centre, Cath Lab and HDU also provided across the two facilities.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved in every aspect of Health Information Services including HIS administration and data reporting, clinical coding and case mix based activities, quality projects, privacy and medico legal support and participation in the leadership teams at both facilities. A part of the role is to perform coding and this will be supported by additional coding resources.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated to provide excellent customer service to the hospitals and to lead the HIS departments to improved participation within the hospitals, assist to develop increased health data accuracy and continuous process improvement.

The role will report directly to the hospital executive at both sites. Supported by a network of Health Information Managers across the Ramsay Health Care group, the successful applicant will also participate in the regular state-wide HIM meetings and occasional national projects.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Appropriate qualifications in Health Information Management
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • A results focused mindset
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Knowledge of mandatory reporting requirements
  • High level coding abilities across a range of clinical specialties
  • The ability to undertake coding and develop coding staff
  • Self-motivation to learn and to share learnings for the development of others

Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage, although the role may suit someone who has been the 2IC within HIS in a larger facility. Ideally you would have experiencing balancing a coding service, including timely completion of high quality coded data and these skills should be highlighted on your application

Salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant and will be commensurate with experience.
