Youth and Family Program

The Youth and Family Program, is comprised of numerous disciplines that focus on the assessment and delivery of youth and family focused care. The team is committed to working with vulnerable and margianlised young people and adults by providing high quality, multidisciplinary programs which embrace client centered practice and evidence based services.

The Forensic Mental Health in Community Health (FMHICH) Program will be required to provide an efficient, high quality and comprehensive service to Adults 18 and up on Corrections orders residing in the City Of Greater Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia areas. The FMHICH Program, is a comprehensive mental health and broader health evidence-informed service.

The aim of the FMHICH Program is to "to assist eligible individuals to access the mental health care they need and enable them to satisfy the requirement of their Mental Health and Treatment Rehabilitation (MHTR) condition while reducing their recidivism risk.”

It is intended that the Program will assist with providing timely and appropriate assessment and treatment to those who require it, and potentially reduce risk to the community.

A little bit about the role:

  • In this role you will provide direct client care and secondary consultation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants on a Correction Order. 
  • You will work closely with the Forensic Mental Health staff, agencies, community and other Government Departments to improve the functioning of our services for example, developing new strategies and systems to improve operation.
  • You will be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, accepted by the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Community and have demonstrated capability and experience in providing cultural liaison, advice and support to staff to better provide appropriate health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.
  • You will have a tertiary or similar qualification in Aboriginal Health or a health profession with equivalent workplace experience and or working towards accreditation.

It is very important for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to be part of the frontline workforce at Monash Health in order to drive improvements in cultural awareness, cultural practice and to influence positive policy change for better outcomes our community.

All appointments to the Monash Health are subject to a satisfactory clearance of Working with Children Check and Police Check.
