The purpose of this role is to ensure our customers are provided with scientific and technical advice and to oversee the monitoring, collection, and submission of safety information for Abbott products to Abbott Global Pharmacovigilance.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • To manage all product-related medical/customer enquiries (internal and external) and maintain the Medical Information Database
  • Training of all internal Salesforce as well as external Healthcare providers, e.g. dieticians, nurses
  • To oversee the monitoring, collection, and submission of safety information for Abbott products (primarily adverse events) to Abbott Global Pharmacovigilance and to the relevant authority in Australia/New Zealand in compliance with Abbott policy and local regulatory requirements
  • Review and approval of all promotional material
  • Manage local Medical Information repository and handle all incoming verbal and written medical enquiries
  • Provide technical and scientific support to the Sales and Marketing Team as well as all other stakeholders
  • Liaise with the Regional and Global Nutrition Science team where required
  • Manage the clinical references library and review promotional material on ZINC platform
  • Develop, collate and maintain up-to-date Training Modules
  • Train all internal and external staff on product knowledge and disease based condition

Pharmacovigilance Duties

  • Perform the initial review of incoming medical complaints (Adverse Events) for nutrition products and devices and report to Abbott Nutrition Medical Safety and Surveillance (ANMSS) within specified timeframes using designated AN IT systems in compliance with local regulations. Report any serious adverse events to local Regulatory bodies and escalate to Senior Technical Services Manager and ANMSS where required
  • Apply knowledge and/or experience with AN products (devices and nutrition products), medical safety, scientific, local vigilance regulatory requirements, and business issues to ensure that Abbott Nutrition is in compliance with related local regulations and division policies & SOPs
  • Review and implement affiliate pharmacovigilance staff training matrix.  Ensure that all aspects of Pharmacovigilance training meet local and global requirements
  • Train all Third party providers in Abbott PV reporting and conduct monthly reconciliations of reported Adverse Events
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pharmacovigilance requirements

Skills required for this position:

  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • The ability to communicate with diverse audiences at all levels both internal and external to Abbott from various disciplines, organisations and cultures
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong numeric and analytic skills
  • Knowledge of local regulatory reporting requirements, guidelines, policies, standards and practices etc.

Education and Experience required for this position:

  • Bachelor degree in Dietetics
  • 2 years' experience as dietitian highly desirable
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare related industry with special focus on medical information support, and pharmacovigilance monitoring/reporting also desirable
  • Knowledge of and compliance with local regulatory reporting requirements guidelines, policies, standards, practices and processes, etc.
