The Role - What we are looking for

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Counsellor to work within the Ability Options Therapy team, which comprises of experienced Allied Health Practitioners including; Psychologists, Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Behaviour Specialists in the Sydney region.

You will deliver a range of services to participants across the Greater Sydney region.

You will use your knowledge and experience to provide; direct counselling services, evidence and behaviour based supports to people in different environments, psychometric testing, facilitate group training sessions and provide staff/parent consultation. You role will require you to work closely with others to ensure the individuals we support are empowered to reach their goals.

Essential Criteria:

  • Registration with appropriate registering body g. RCAA, AHPRA etc.
  • Specialist knowledge of disability services.
  • Experience in conducting comprehensive behaviour assessments and designing, implementing and evaluating behaviour support plans.
  • Knowledge of Keep Them Safe guidelines and mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of the Disability Inclusion Act 2014, National Disability Insurance Scheme and current reform in the disability sector.
  • A current NSW driver's licence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of disability accommodation services and settings including; best practice expectations, funding context, and behaviour supports within a best practice evidence based framework for persons with an intellectual/psychological/physical disability.
  • Extensive knowledge of best practice Behaviour Management Policies and procedures, including restricted practices framework, or a willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of capacity testing across the lifespan, or a willingness to learn.
