The Role:

The Comfort Kids Program was established in 2006 with the aim of creating a hospital where pain, distress, fear and anxiety associated with procedures was minimized. The Comfort Kids Program aims to empower health care professionals, families and children to adopt effective procedural pain management strategies as a matter of routine clinical care.

 

The Clinical Nurse Consultant will play a key role in providing continuity and coordination of the resources within the program in consultation with the Director of Anaesthesia and Pain Management, optimising the efforts of the other Program staff to best fulfil the objectives of the program.

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

 

  • Knowledge of procedural pain management in children and a commitment to research and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in procedural pain management strategies and communication tools for children
  • Minimum five years post registration nursing experience (with at least three years paediatric training)
