Clinical Psychologist (Breast Oncology) -  Centre for Women's Mental Health
Fixed Term Position
12m contract with scope for renewal - 11.6 hours per week

The Centre for Women's Mental Health (CWMH) provides mental health services to patients of The Women's. Our major areas of activity are in these domains: clinical work, research, and education & training. Clinical Services cover each of the hospital's clinical streams, i.e. maternity services, gynaecology and women's cancer and neonatal services. 

Your contribution

The position of Clinical Psychologist (Breast Oncology) is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the Consultation-Liaison (C-L) Psychiatry team within the Centre for Women's Mental Health. Together with other members of the C-L team, the Clinical Psychologist (Breast Oncology) is responsible for the provision of evidence-based psychological services to women with, or at risk of breast cancer who are patients of The Women's. Together with members of the CWMH, the Clinical Psycholgist (Breast Oncology) will also participate in the development and implementation of relevant research and quality improvement initiatives. 

Your duties within the Breast Tumour Stream will be the following: 

  • Provide psychological assessment to women who are patients of RWH who also have mental health problems
  • Provide psychological assessment of women considering cancer risk surgery
  • Provide evidence-based psychological therapies to women who are patients of RWH who also have mental health problems
  • Work with, and where appropriate, provide supervision and support for other members of the multisdiscipliary team 
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, care planning and case review 
  • Co-ordinate and develop group programs and appropriate

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to have: 

  • Registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with endorsement as a clinical psychologist
  • A minimum of Masters level degree in Clinical Psychology
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently 
  • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office Suite products, use of email and internet searching skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in delivery of clinical psychology services in an oncology setting
  • Experience in delivery of clinical psychology services in an oncology setting
  • Experience in delivery of mindfulness therapy. 

We anticipate the position will commence on 27th August 2018. Days of work are Monday and Tuesday. 
It is anticipated the interviews will be held on 30th and/or 31st July.
