About You

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager and leading a team of Nurse Unit Managers, you will be responsible for the overall management of health services delivered at the Clarence Correctional Centre.  You will provide effective leadership and management whilst embedding both clinical and corporate governance frameworks.  You will implement systems, processes and effective risk management to ensure an efficient functioning practice to deliver appropriate standards of care to inmates from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Post graduate qualification in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Practice Management or related discipline.
  • Experience in a senior line management role in a Healthcare Centre or Clinical Nursing Practice within an institutional environment or equivalent.
  • Experience planning, co-ordinating, directing and supervising health care services.
  • Proven experience in managing the professional standard of nursing care, preferably within a correctional or institutional facility.
  • An understanding of the needs leading people from different ethnic, cultural and lifestyle backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.
  • A thorough understanding of the needs in providing appropriate health care services within a correctional environment and adapting services where appropriate to support patients’ needs from different ethnic, cultural, lifestyle backgrounds and gender.
