The purpose of the Technical Advisory Team (TAT) is to work collaboratively across the Agency to deliver improved outcomes for people with a disability. The Operational Policy Guidance stream of the TAT is responsible for the oversight, development and management of operational policy. This includes research, development and updating of Operational Guidelines and other guidance materials related to Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) hearings.
The Role:
The APS 6 AAT Advisor will work within a small team and take a lead role in research, development of case summaries and sourcing of case documentation and expert treatment, or disability specialist opinion and providing instruction to the Legal team.
The Technical Advisor will be responsible for a range of functions including the following:
- Undertake detailed research in a range of environments and create summaries for AAT cases/approval by delegate.
- Source and provide advice and instruction on AAT cases (access and planning) through various methods
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as required to seek information/support on AAT cases.
- Research disabilities/supports/treatments and best practice in specific areas as requested and provide information to instructors and legal team.
- Source expert witnesses for various treatments/disabilities.
- Co-ordinate implementation of AAT orders, follow up and report on outcomes through actively
- Follow up with relevant regions to ensure orders have been actioned/implemented
- Provide support to EL1/EL2 AAT TAT team as required
- Provide input into AAT TAT process for continuous improvement
About you:
An Allied Health background is considered preferable for this role.
In addition, candidates must be able to demonstrate:
- Experience in Claims management or dispute resolution
- Strong research and writing skills
- The ability to analyse and synthesise detailed information within tight time frames.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
- Adaptable communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in building relationships both with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work within the team and adapt quickly to a changing environment
