About Improving Speech and Language
Improving Speech and Language is a well established, family owned, private speech therapy business. Improving Speech and Language moved to Western Children's Health Centre when it opened in March 2016. We provide professional knowledge and support to assist with all areas of communication and social development including: speech, language, literacy, fluency, play skills and social thinking.
We recognise that every child is unique and that learning is based in interactions. Our goal is to make interactions and therapy as fun as possible. We support families, schools, childcare centres and kindergartens to work with the challenges a child is presenting with. We provide expert knowledge and support to assist with all areas of communication and social development, including speech, language, literacy, fluency and play skills.
We offer a range of speech therapy services for children (12months-15 years) including:
- assessment / diagnosis
- individual therapy planning and programming
- up-skilling for families and other communication partners
- small group therapy: social thinking; Hanen parent training; play skills; toddler and parent groups;
- we offer in clinic therapy as well as home, school, kindergarten and childcare based services.
About Western Children's Health Centre
Western Children's Health Centre is a dynamic and cohesive private paediatric service in Altona Meadows. Western Children's Health centre is growing, but currently has 6 paediatricians, ENT surgeons, psychologists, occupational therapists, an audiologist, physiotherapist and dieticians, as well as speech therapy.
About the role
Position Details
This is an ongoing part-time position (can build to full time) The position involves working at the clinic as well as visiting homes schools, kindergarten and childcare centres.
Days are flexible, compulsory fortnightly Thursday for team case meeting.

Clinic is open from 8am-5.30 pm Monday to Saturday.

Skills and experience
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Assessment and therapy provision for a range of clients (as above)
- Collaboration with clients/ families to set achievable goals as part of an individualised therapy plan
- Service delivery that utilises a family-friendly approach and shares our practice's philosophies, particularly for evidence-based therapy approaches
- Independent caseload management (dependent on experience)
Essential Requirements
- Relevant Speech Pathology qualification
- Practising member of Speech Pathology Australia
- Current Working with Children Check
- Own transport
- Understanding of Speech Pathology Australia's Code of Ethics
