Maitland Private Hospital is a premier 156 bed medical, surgical, mental health and rehabilitation hospital located in the Lower Hunter Valley, less than 30 minutes from Newcastle CBD. As the only private hospital between Newcastle and Taree, we play an invaluable role in servicing the communities of Maitland, the Lower Hunter and Port Stephens.

Maitland Private Hospital's rehabilitation unit was commissioned in 2015 with comprehensive facilities including hydrotherapy pool and gymnasiums, and an extensive allied health team with highly respected rehabilitation physicians.

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, this vital role leads a multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing and allied health staff in the provision of inpatient rehabilitation services. The successful candidate will be a very experienced clinician with highly developed interpersonal and business development skills.

Essential Criteria:

  • Current registration with APHRA
  • Current Working With Children Check & National Criminal Record Check
  • Minimum 5 years' post graduate experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the implementation of business plans and resourcing models
  • Very sound clinical knowledge and skills
  • Very strong leadership capabilities with a track record in effectively managing and developing staff, and building respect among staff at all levels
  • Demonstrated experience in managing rosters and human resourcing for a busy unit
  • A comprehensive knowledge of hospital administrative procedures, clinical governance and other quality related aspects
  • Sound computer literacy in desktop applications and patient management systems
  • Strong, collaborative interpersonal communication skills with well developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of AROC and FIM collection requirements.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Post graduate qualifications in relevant specialty and management.
  • Previous management experience within the private hospital sector.
  • Familiarity with health funds, Medicare, DVA, WorkCover and third party requirements.
  • FIM credentialed.
  • Experience within a similar role
