Neonatal Fellows and Registrars
Applications are sought from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the positions of Neonatal Fellows and Registrars commencing 4 February 2019. Positions are 6 or 12 month full-time or part-time positions. Fellow positions are designed for senior trainees pursuing a career in Neonatology while Registrar positions are suitable for trainees in Neonatology, General Paediatrics or other Paediatric subspecialties who wish to gain tertiary neonatal experience.
The Royal Children’s Hospital is a paediatric teaching hospital, and its Newborn Intensive Care Unit acts as a quaternary referral centre for newborn infants with complex medical and surgical problems from Victoria, its neighbouring states, and overseas. The Unit is the major regional centre for neonatal surgery and complex neonatal medical conditions and is recognised for it’s expertise in the provision of advanced respiratory support. There is an active research program in these areas. Fellows in their final year of RACP advanced training may act in a junior consultant role under supervision during the latter part of their rotation.
A minimum of 12 months (Fellow applicants) or 6 months (Registrar applicants) previous experience in neonatal intensive care is essential and successful candidates must be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
