Position Summary

Peninsula Health currently has an unique opportunity for an experienced social worker to join the Social Work Department on a limited term basis (Full time or Part time). This position will be responsible for strengthening Peninsula Health’s capacity to identify and respond to Family Violence. We are looking to recruit an experienced and dynamic social worker with extensive clinical experience in Family Violence. The SHRFV Family Violence Clinical Liaisons report to the SHRFV Project Lead, which sits within the governance of the Social Work Department.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide an expert clinical response to family violence referrals, incorporating vulnerable children, elder abuse and sexual assault. This position responds to complex clinical cases across Peninsula Health services, including the Emergency Departments, acute, sub-acute, Mental Health and Community Health.
•Provide high quality focussed care to patients and their families/carers through specialised and advanced clinical assessment and intervention skills.
•Provide expert consultation and direction in clinical care and respond to complexity and risk
•Through joint assessments and secondary consultation, provide clinical mentoring and guidance to staff who are working with patients and families that are experiencing family violence.
•Participate in reflective practice and case conferencing around best practice interventions within the family violence spectrum. Clinical leadership will be demonstrated within service speciality, within the broader health service and clinical development within the Social Work team.
•Collaborate with other Peninsula Health staff and the Clinical Champion network to enhance effective family violence recognition and responses into the future.
•Ability to utilise clinical knowledge and skills to identify opportunities for service improvement and innovation.
•Establish and maintain strategic links and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders appropriate to this senior role.
•Coordinate and contribute to allocated/agreed portfolios, projects and research activities

Essential Criteria

• A tertiary qualification in Social Work, and a member or eligibility for membership of the AASW.
• Extensive experience in the area of family violence and/or prevention of violence.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
