Position Title: Clinical Research Fellow - Clinical Immunology and Allergy

Employment Type: Full Time, Fixed Term until 01/08/2021

Position Summary:

We are seeking applications from a suitably qualified Clinical Immunology & Allergy Advanced Trainee or Fellow to join the St Vincent's Immunology Department. The successful applicant will be responsible for trial management, patient recruitment, clinical visit monitoring, medical and trial assessment, clinical care of trial participants, supervising and other research activities including potential laboratory work with a translational focus in immunopathology at St Vincent's Hospital and the Centre for Applied Medical Research (AMR), conducted as part of the Research Fellow’s own post-graduate work. Clinical duties required include: provision of clinical management and treatment of inpatients and outpatients - including the care and management of ambulatory care patients. On-call services may be required. The position is offered at full-time 1.0 FTE (Medical Officers - Registrar).



Applicants may be offered a conjoint University appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of New South Wales/University of Notre Dame. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship of the applicant and will be held only during the tenure of the St Vincent's Hospital appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and St Vincent's Hospital for clinical matters.

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
  • Currently Registered or eligible for Medical Registration in New South Wales (MBBS) or equivalent).
  • Completed Part 1 of the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and completed at least 2 years of advanced training in clinical immunology.
  • Experience in the management of patients with immunological diseases and particularly allergic disease.
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills and a methodical and meticulous approach to the recording of clinical information.
  • Demonstrated excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills and the ability to adhere to deadlines without compromising close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and/ or skills in a research environment, or willingness to learn.
